An elderly New York woman says she's planning to sue the Transportation Security Administration after what she said was a humiliating "strip search." NBC's Brian Williams reports.
An 85-year-old New York grandmother said Saturday she was injured and humiliated when she was strip searched at an airport after she asked to be patted down instead of going through a body scanner.
Lenore Zimmerman said she was whisked away to a private room and made to take off her pants and other clothes after she asked to forgo the screening because she worried it would interfere with her defibrillator. She missed her flight and had to take one two-and-a-half hours later, she said.
“I walk with a walker — I really look like a terrorist,” she told The New York Daily News. “I’m tiny. I weigh 110 pounds, 107 without clothes, and I was strip-searched.”
“I was outraged,” said Zimmerman, a retired receptionist.
As she tried to lift a lightweight walker off her lap, she said the metal bars hit her leg, causing blood to flow from her a gash, the newspaper reported.
“My sock was soaked with blood,” she said. “I was bleeding like a pig."
But the Transportation Security Administration said in a statement Saturday no strip search was conducted.
"While we regret that the passenger feels she had an unpleasant screening experience, TSA does not include strip searches as part of our security protocols and one was not conducted in this case," the statement read.
Zimmerman was dropped off by her son at Kennedy Airport for a 1 p.m. flight Tuesday to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on JetBlue, she said. She arrived to the ticket counter around 12:20 p.m. and headed for security in a wheelchair, her small, metal walker in her lap.
She's been traveling to Florida for at least a decade and has never had a problem being patted down until now, she said. "I worry about my heart, so I don't want to go through those things," she said referring to the advanced image technology screening machines now in place at the airport.

Private screening
As a result, she said she was taken into the private screening room by one agent and made to strip.
A review of closed-circuit television at the airport showed proper procedures were followed, Jonathan Allen, a TSA spokesman, said in a statement.
"Private screening was requested by the passenger, it was granted and lasted approximately 11 minutes," the statement read. "TSA screening procedures are conducted in a manner designed to treat all passengers with dignity, respect and courtesy and that occurred in this instance."
The private screening was not recorded.
Zimmerman, who spends half the year in Long Beach, N.Y., said she banged her shin during the process and it bled "like a pig," partly because she is on blood-thinning medication. She said an emergency medical technician patched her up, but she was told to see a doctor when she arrived in Florida to make sure the wound didn't get infected. There are no records indicating medical attention was called on her behalf.
"I don't know what triggered this. I don't know why they singled me out," she said.
Her son Bruce Zimmerman said he'd like to see someone fired, and screeners re-trained after his mother's ordeal.
"My mother is a little old woman. She's not disruptive or uncooperative," he said Saturday. "I don't understand how this happened."
He said she's had an increasingly difficult time traveling, especially since her husband died a few years ago. She has two grandchildren, and her older son, a doctor, died in 2007.
Meanwhile, Lenore Zimmerman said she was healing, planned to go to the grocery store on Saturday and take it easy. Weather was about 76 and sunny, and she's not headed back to an airport until April when she returns to New York.
"Thank goodness," she said. "It will give me some time to brace myself for the return flight."

No recording, no mention of medical attention............ Looks like TSA screwed up again and are trying to duck out of it.
Another 9/11 will probably happen one day, and the reason the dude made it past the screeners was because they were too busy strip searching someone's grandmother.
really sounds to me like a shmuck looking for a free payday get over it and move on.
My elderly and needing to ride in a wheel chair for distances soon to be mother in law asked to opt out of the scan for similar reasons and agreed to be searched. She was told that it wasn't an option when she pressed they said if she did that she would miss her plane (she was there 2hrs early) because they didn't have a female TSA agent handy. One was working at a different station and they just didn't want to bother. My MIL felt intimidated by the agents now two males standing over her so agreed to being scanned.
They won't let individuals record them with a cell phone and threaten you with arrest if they catch you now. So they can do whatever they want and claim the YOU are lying. If someone wants my vote for President then they need to have a plan for doing something about the TSA. Ron Paul is beginning to sound like the sensible choice.
Haha SCOTT, a TSA appologist, not many of those around. It doesn't take 11 minutes to do a pat down you flippin retard. She was stripped in some manner if it took that long...
You would record a strip search? Really bright.
I would be outraged if I were the one that was told to do the strip search. Gee, wtf is wrong in America when you have to strip search 84 yo women and men, kids in their diapers.
This is no longer America. Welcome to the NEW Jihad America. We lost the battle on terrorism and handed away our rights to freedom.
Knowing the media (and I've seen its underhanded inflammations and twistings of the truth 1st hand) I'm sure they are grossly manipulating this story. No one, I repeat no one, is going to strip search and 84 yr old woman with out cause. And ALL businesses (yes airports are businesses) must and do keep records of medical treatment given to cover themselves in case of false allegations. I've been through TSA many, many times and never once was I treated w/ anything less than respect. Not saying they don't make mistakes from time to time but this is way over the top and I'm not buying Grandma's story. I'm tired of people slamming TSA. I am not a fear monger and I disapprove of fear mongering techniques that have become too common since 9/11 but the reality is that it only takes one person to blow up a plane. We can't have it both ways. And who is going to strip search a 84 yr old grandma (unless they have real probable cause - gross). Tell me that your mom has never exaggerated; I know the older my mom got, the wilder the stories got - Love my Mom but ... This is just too over the top. Besides, JFK has so many potential targets, why choose her.
Richard, you say they did not record the private screening like that is a problem. Do you think the private screenings should be videoed? My god the public had a cow over the scan images which showed very little of the human form.
Will, the screeners were not doing any strip searches on 911. Or pat downs for that matter. Back then it was carry-ons only.
James do you really think a 84 year old woman using a walker and barely able to lift it can strip in 11 minutes?
The passage of S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act, declares war on Americans, boldly claiming the right to indefinitely detain anyone deemed an enemy of the state, including citizens.
“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we have set. We have got to have a civilian national security force that is just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded,” said Barak Hussein Obama on July 2, 2008. His words require a bit of translating, however.
In plain English, President Obama has set national security objectives which he has yet to share with the American people. According to his statement he is convinced that the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard, constituted as they are, are either unreliable or unable to accomplish the national security objectives he has chosen. So, he intends to ask Congress to authorize, fund and build a civilian national security force that is, “just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded,” as America’s military forces.
To be as strong as our current armed forces, Obama’s civilian army will have to be able to match the Army and Marines tank for tank, missile for missile, and battalion for battalion. It will have to match the Navy and Coast Guard ship for ship, and the Air Force fighter plane for fighter plane and bomber for bomber.
His civilian force’s congressionally approved budget will require appropriations that match the Pentagon’s current budget level dollar for dollar. According to the Congressional Budget Office, Obama expects to fund his private security force with a $6 billion allocation over the next five years. Though that is not equivalent to the nation’s current military budget allocation, it is still not a paltry sum.
That is how we must interpret Obama’s words if we take them and him at face value. But does Obama really mean what he said or was it just campaign rhetoric? If it was only rhetoric, there should be no effort to follow up with concrete proposals or appropriations.
So what is one to think about H.R. 1388, Obama’s National Civilian Security Force bill which is slowly working its way around Capital Hill? It is formally named the “Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act.” It provides for uniforms to be worn by the young volunteers (up to 250,000 of them) and for the establishment of a 4-year “public service academy” to train new public service leaders. From this it is reasonable to conclude that there must be fire somewhere in the middle of all of Obama’s rhetorical smoke.
Where is there an historical example of a nation having a civilian national security force that rivals the size of its military forces?
Yes folks we have stepped over into a fledgling police state.
National Socialists like Obama always gravitate towards absolute power usurption.
The velvet glove covers an iron fist how long before they pull the gloves off?
Looking for someone to blame start with Republicans passing the patriot act the two party system is not what it was.
If only the Party of No did not have a fetish for Terrorism, we could live like normal human beings.
Heck of a job, Teapublicans.
Devil's Son - good point. I have changed my mom's clothes numerous times and it would take a lot longer than 11 minutes to escort her to another room, undress her, search her and redress her. (I didn't want to be scanned on my last flight and the full pat down itself took a few minutes and they did it right there next to the scanner). Besides the fact that my mom simply would never have stood for it. She would rather have been arrested.
Right on, Scott! Sounds like Grandma p o ed someone. They didn't record the incident, so how can they say it didn't happen?! Grandma doesn't look like some scmuck trying to get a free ride, she just looks like a sweet lil' ol' lady, and I bet they made her take her clothes off just to humiliate her. I am a lil' ol' lady that flew out of Denver last year and I can tell you I wasn't handled with kid gloves, either. But It wasn't quite that bad, but enough to make a believer out of me. Those agents can be rude and disrespectful for no reason.
Not to say that TSA does not go out of bounds once in a while, but I am not buying grandma's story. TSA does not do strip searches. My bet is that they asked her to take off a jacket for the pat down and that is what she is exaggerating and calling that a strip search. As for missing her flight, assuming there was no huge line at the ticket counter, she did not get to the airport until around 40 minutes before her flight (she got to the ticket counter at 12:20 for a 1:00 flight). This is far less time than is recommended to allow for getting through security and to your gate. Sometimes this is enough time, but I always allow at least an hour myself. It is easy for people to believe anything outrageous that is published about TSA because of the many stories that have appeared in the media. However, those stories are almost always one sided exaggerations and the results of the investigation with the real story are never given the same headline treatment. This is one story where I am calling BS and suspect that this story is very far from the truth.
I am thinking granny wanted to suppliment her retirement. Wonder if the national enquirer or star or whatever tabloid will pick the story up,m or how many lawyers are flocking to her.

Why are you defending these TSA Nazis? Do you must have a vested interest in their continued abuse of average Americans? Just because you have personally excepted this abuse doesn't mean everyone else has. These TSA screenings are nothing more than bureaucracy gone mad and a complete waste of tax payer dollars and should be brought to an end immediately.....
“I walk with a walker — I really look like a terrorist,” It appears this dumb woman thinks terrorist look a certain way. As for richard 631853, it looks like he needs to reread this story. She did see a paramedic. I'm sure if it was real bad she would have been taken to the hospital, a##. Too bad most of you don't understand that the Patriot Act took away your rights as soon as you are deemed a risk.
What a joke these comments are....record a STRIP SEARCH? Record someone disrobing??? No one sees the problem with that not to mention it would violate every state guideline in existence. Anyone who thinks a strip search can be done in 11 minutes start to finish is clueless.
She requested the procedure or a private check. Was it an actual strip search??? Doubt it. Quite frankly I don't think she knows what procedure they followed. sounds like she's annoyed that she had to follow the procedure of a random check. Let's just exempt EVERYONE who feels that they are entitled to preferential treatment. Was no family with her at this point or did they let the 84 year old make it on her own?
Way too many unanswered questions and a lot of family all of a sudden looking for press.
We need to Totally, Completely and Utterly Abolish and Destroy this "new government" that has ever so slowly creeped in and has taken hold of us and Robbed us of our freedoms and RIGHTS and Reinstate our true and original government from 1776!!!!!! Let us TAKE back our Freedoms and Rights and quit bickering like little spoiled brats over party lines. Left vs Right, Liberal vs Conservative, Democrat vs Republican!!! What ever happened to One Nation Indivisible!!!!!!!!! Like in the movie Braveheart It Is about FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!
@b895713... really....moron ... a strip search can't be done in 11 minutes?... that 11 minutes'time frame' was a number stated by the accused... the search wasn't documented... so where is it documented it only took 11 minutes? ... sounds to me like a made up number... not approximately 10 minutes ... but exactly 11... but... it wasn't documented...really ... the TSA IS LYING!!
Just luv reading all these comments from you "experts" who never encountered any TSA situatins and furthermore apparentlydon't have any elderly parents or grandparents. No, the lady is not "dumb." The lady is just an 84 year old woman tryiing to get to visit her kids and grandkids. and truly, aren't there more suspicious characters besides her to investigate? What about the "no fly" listings that it was known before when the Christmas bomb er that set his underpants on fire (ha,. ha, at least no little baby terrorists coming from him, hoipefully) were often ignored and the wrong peole definitely allowed on planes. Not one, not one, even of th ose who have blown up our people, planes and World Trade Center, etc. were EVER, EVER, little old 84 ytear old grannies. Could some stealthy terrorist have perhaps slipped a bomb into the old lady's purse while she wasn't watching? Maybe. So search purses as you alway shave done. No need to do whatever the hell you TSA people did to cause such an uproar. TS\A personnel need nbeter training, and they certainly need to be screened before they are EVER employed. No, stupid, some little old 84 year old ladies are in the position that they MUST board a plane by themselves, because they happen to be lucid., capable of makiing decisions and don't need a personal representative, plus in a civilized country you would not expect them to come to any harm. Little do they know what kind of jungle America has become, thanks to bureaucrats and security nutc ases run wild. They are vulnerable to the bullies that now surround us. I'm with the poster who wants to vote for a President to relieve Americans of this stinking, pseudo and faux "security" that is makiing our airlines the laughingstock of the world but it's no laughing matter. Get a grip, America.
You sure don't sound very smart, calling people a moron and all....Sounds like she has not forgotten how to tell fibs.......Mr SmarterThanNoOne.....
The TSA needs to GO AWAY! They are a waste of money. The shoe bomber and the underwear bomber both got by TSA security. What is the point of having them and especially having them as a government agency. Vote Ron Paul 2012. Make sure you are listed as Republican so you can vote for him in the primary of your state.
To age gracefully you have to accept the disappointing 'firsts' as they appear - times and procedures change and I doubt she was naked anyhow. But to show up a mere forty minutes early didn't work in 1969 for the Eastern Shuttle.
This is political correctness run crazy. Nothing more, nothing less. For those of you that made comments about her comment that she doesn't "look like a terrorist" you damn well know she's right. Sorry to hurt your bleeding hearts, but more times than not, you need only look at the middle eastern looking young male to find a terrorist. It's so stupid that we keep pretending otherwise.
@benr-3287919: Where did you get your information from. I have never seen anything like that or heard anything like that. You are either making it up or got it from Fox News. I ran a search for anything that even sounded close and couldn't find anything.
ALL because the LIBERAL DEMOCRATS don't want to hurt any ones feelings and PROFILE BY RACE & RELIGION !!! Don't give me the " The Terrorist will use white blond women next" crap !!!
I've had airport pat downs MANY times and they never lasted more than 20-30 seconds. 11 minutes in a private screening room? More than a simple pat down had to have occurred. The TSA agent was probably trying to punish her for making her do extra work with a pat down by refusing to go through the imaging machine. I can hear that TSA agent's wheels turning... "I'll show this b**** who runs this show."
Whatever happened to For the people BY the people? WE the People!!!!!!!!! WE ARE THE BOSS!!!!!!!!! It's time WE FIRE those SLACKER LOSERS NOW!!!!!!!!! Let us TAKE back OUR RIGHTS and FREEDOMS our civil liberties from this police state!!!!!!!!! If you hired some one to do a job wouldn't you expect and good and timely WORK? What would you do if you hired a mechanic to fix your car and a mile down the road the engine fell out do to their incompetence? Well we hired mechanics (politicians) to fix our engine (rights & freedoms, civil liberties, economy...) and 200 years down the road the engine (rights & freedoms, civil liberties, economy...) fell out!!!!!!!!! The government needs to but the hell out of our business!!! As long as you or I do not hurt or interfere with the rights, freedoms or civil liberties of our neighbor or children then they need to but out of our private lives!!! This includes what WE choose to do with or put into OUR OWN bodies!!! IF I want to smoke pot (which I don't) as long as I don't expose it or bring it near children or drive then it is NONE of their or your business!!!!!!!!! I'm just trying to make a point and I hope that you have the brains to comprehend and to get it. That is what American freedom is; being able to do whatever you want as long as you don't bring harm or injury to children or your neighbor or country!!! If you and me are in the privacy of our own house minding our own business NOT bothering or harming anyone what you or I do is NONE of the governments business!!! Somewhere along the way the government decided to take it upon themselves to poke their collective noses where it DID NOT belong!!! Hey NSA and all you other gestapo KGB type branches of this new police state that calls yourself American you are Very extremely ANTI American I will Exercise my Constitutional RIGHT to FREE Speech when I tell you you can kiss my A$$!!!!!!!!! My grandfather fought in WWII and my Dad in vietnam. And I can tell you my grandpa is rolling his grave ticked off cause he was on two ships that were attacked and sunk in the atlantic and he and all of the other WWII Vets DID NOT fight be injured and die for this police state!!! You want to know why they are trying to take guns away from you? It's 'cause if we are unarmed IF they wanted to take control and turn our Beloved country into a dictatorship that would make it so much easier. It's starting with airports and so called security.
I'm not so sure that I buy this story, I flew to Maine in August and had broken my foot the Monday before I was d/t fly out and I had an orthopedic boot on and it set off the scanner and I had to be patted down, and then when they placed the gloves under the scanner they set it off and then I was asked to go to the screening room and be patted down by a female supervisor and I only had to remove the boot and my other shoe so I am not so sure that this is entirely accurate.
All you people who don't like losing your rights in the name of terrorism need to do your research on the up coming republican candidates. You will find out that Ron Paul does not support giving up our rights to fight terrorism.Ron Paul makes the most sense of all the candidates.I had my doubts at first when i heard him i thought he was a little radical.but when i went to RonPaul.com and read the issues he is running on i quickly changed my mind. After being a registered democrat for 30 yrs. i switched to republican so i could vote for him in the primaries.I would really like to see him get the nomination and win the presidential election.I think that he our last chance to turn this country around. Please join with me and thousands of other Americans and vote for Ron Paul 2012.
IAmSmarterThanYou - Have you ever helped a person in their 80's undress and dress, especially one who is partially disabled (this woman was walking with a walker). I have changed my mom multiple times who was not an invalid but needed assistance and it took a good 10 minutes to change her. And I wasn't searching her clothes or her person. You have a right to your opinion & whether you believe the lady's story as do I. I do not believe her story. Oh, and keep in mind that the media loves to sensationalize things.
H.R. 1388 is not titled " National Civilian Security Force bill ". Where did you come up with that garbage? It is GIVE - Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education. It is designed to create a community volunteer (possibly mandatory for 18-25 year olds) program. It is designed to teach people how to respond in the case of natural disasters and national emergencies.
benr,
Are you REALLY as stupid as this post would suggest, or are you just dishonest?
Please use fact check next time... my 7 year old can and does.
To all. this is outrageous. It is just a matter of time before this is done to someone you know. "ANYTHING IS OKAY IN THE NAME OF NATIONAL SECURITY AND TO FIGHT TERRORISM", HOG WASH!
Give us or rights and freedom back. If they are a private contractors now at airports they will lie to keep from getting sued. They do have cameras at the screening lines, It would be easy to tell if they did or did not take her away from the screening line if they say there is not then I would be more inclinded to think this ol lady was right. If they show the film then they can prove their case that they did not. And 11 minutes to do a pat down?? Now that is a story if I ever heard one. Must have enjoyed themselves on her to take that much time. Not to mention that if it was only 11 minutes she would have made her plane.
Larry-1700758
Good posts Sir. I agree 100 %, things are way out of control
S. 1867 is not something Obama wanted.
It is promoted by Senators who want to get their Campaign ReElection funding from the Defense Contractors who are located in almost every state.
Obama has promised to veto this legislation because it does not cut defense spending enough.
Tell me where TSA Agents are keeping their Oath as they are required to do to keep that job. Read this and tell where there is ANYTHING Constitutional about what they are currently doing at the airports, now bus stations, some rail stations, and TSA on our roadsides "keeping us safe" or is it keeping us imprisoned? (look it up in Tennessee, soon to be all over the USA.)
[Old joke back in Hitler's time: (use German accent) "You haff no papers, many people in Dachau haff no papers". This is what we are heading for and you are foolish if you believe otherwise. Read Mein Kampf and tell me this is not a copy of it. SS was to "protect" the people also, I forget the literal translation, but VERY similar to "Homeland Security".
TSA agents have to take this Oath to get the job: I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.
Notice on their site it says: As Federal civil servants, we take an oath of office by which we swear to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. The Constitution not only establishes our system of government, it actually defines the work role for Federal employees - "to establish Justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty."
The history of the Oath for Federal employees can be traced to the Constitution, where Article II includes the specific oath the President takes - to "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States." Article VI requires an oath by all other government officials from all three branches, the military, and the States. It simply states that they "shall be bound by oath of affirmation to support the Constitution." The very first law passed by the very first Congress implemented Article VI by setting out this simple oath in law: "I do solemnly swear or affirm (as the case may be) that I will support the Constitution of the United States."
The wording we use today as Executive Branch employees is now set out in chapter 33 of title 5, United States Code. The wording dates to the Civil War and what was called the Ironclad Test Oath. Starting in 1862, Congress required a two-part oath. The first part, referred to as a "background check," affirmed that you were not supporting and had not supported the Confederacy. The second part addressed future performance, that is, what you would swear to do in the future. It established a clear, publicly sworn accountability. In 1873, Congress dropped the first part of the Ironclad Test Oath, and in 1884 adopted the wording we use today.
POTUS Obama stated “the Constitution is a document of negative liberties.” How is he looking at the Constitution in order to have that opinion? The Bill of Rights is not a list of negative liberties to each of us, but a list of written restrictions upon the federal government. The Bill of Rights do not restrict US citizens, they limit what the politicians and bureaucrats can do to or against us. In order to view the Bill of Rights as “negative liberties”, Obama and his administration would have to be seeing them from how they stop what they can do to the people.
bicfi, Janet of Homeland security, came out in support of this bill, it appears the administration is divided on this crazy, unconstitutional ,fascist, un-american, new world order, legislation, that would allow the military to arrest, detain without trial anyone deemed to be a treat in the United States; this bill has a very good chance of passing the senate and house, get involved; this goes beyond the Japanese internment legislation of 1941, when 260 thousand Americans were put in concentration camps for 5 years.
@ Ron B, "H.R. 1388 is not titled " National Civilian Security Force bill ". Where did you come up with that garbage? It is GIVE - Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education. It is designed to create a community volunteer (possibly mandatory for 18-25 year olds) program. Actually you are correct about the name, but like the "Patriot Act" it is NOT benign, nor Constitutional, nor American in any way, shape, or form. Read below and start to understand. By the way, Hitler's Germany did the same with their Youth, or did you ever bother to study history so it could not be repeated? Funny, here it is raising it's ugly head again, and all three branches of "our" government are in it.
President Obama has set national security objectives which he has yet to share with the American people. According to his statement he is convinced that the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard, constituted as they are, are either unreliable or unable to accomplish the national security objectives he has chosen. Ask yourselves this: If there were never intended to be action to defend the Constitution from those who are domestically attempting to destroy its power and authority, why would each Oath require it of those taking the Oaths?
From Rogue Governments:
Obviously, we have strayed far and away beyond the schematics set forth by the founding fathers.
Let us finally be honest with ourselves and say it out loud; our government is not Constitutional! It has become a mutation. A monstrosity. A malformed creature given birth by the oozing genetic material of mad social scientists hell bent on dominating the building blocks of our political life. It is a thing to be abhorred, not admired, and certainly not to be trusted.
The statement above may be confusing to those who have relegated their concerns to the immediate. If one is free to walk about the streets, keep a job, have a drink, and settle in front of his television for hours on end, then what is there to be worried about? If he is not directly affected by the ill notions of men in far off banks and capitols, then why care at all? If the pain of government criminality only strikes people from “other” cultures, or other walks of life, why be concerned? For those who actually suffer from this brand of idiocy, I can only relate the unwarranted role that our government has assumed within our society and hope that they begin to realize how extraordinarily unsafe they really are. The injustices visited upon the few are invariably visited upon the many in time, especially where a rogue government resides.
The kind of intrusion by government allowed by the American people today is utterly astounding. Bank records, medical records, political viewpoints, phone conversations, emails, child rearing practices, food eating habits, health pursuits, social networking habits, biometric data, travel; nothing is safe from the prying eyes of government anymore.
At what point did we as a nation decide that the government’s opinion of the domestic ideal should become the precedent? At what point did we decide that a faceless bureaucracy knows better than we do what is best for us? When did our lives become an open book to be read at the government’s leisure?
I say “we decided”, because we must bear a large part of the blame. From the institution of the Patriot Acts, to the utilization of the FISA domestic spying bill, to the latest monitoring and cataloging by the DHS and the Federal Reserve of private internet activity, we have stood by and done little to nothing in response.
The argument put forth by establishment proponents has always been that the government’s task is to keep us safe. In order to do this, they say, there can be nowhere for “evil doers” to hide. Therefore, the privacy of every individual must be sacrificed for the greater good of the greater number. This argument is unabashed nonsense.
Governments do not keep people safe. Governments are historically predisposed to ending far more lives than they protect, especially when they have strayed from their original mandates. When a government goes rogue, or has been honed as a tool for control rather than defense, its directives lean towards self preservation, not the preservation of the public. That is to say, the government and those who directly benefit from its manipulation set policies that ensure their own safety, and no one else’s.
Without a doubt, all the anti-4th Amendment legislation that has been passed over the course of last decade is focused not on some sinister force, foreign or domestic. Instead, it has been focused on average American citizens, because, whether we want to admit it or not, the government sees US as their greatest enemy.
There was a time when even I would have considered this view as a bit “extreme”. However, I would now have to point out the introduction of bills and executive orders like the John Warner Defense Authorization Act, which essentially erases Posse Comitatus and allows for Martial Law to be instituted with extreme prejudice under executive authority:
As well as the attempted passage of the Enemy Belligerents Act, which would allow for the capture, torture, and indefinite incarceration of American citizens as “enemy
Not to mention the National Emergency Centers Act which allows for the detention of civilians in military and FEMA run facilities:
Or the Obama Administration’s continuance of Bush doctrine which allows for the assassination of U.S. citizens designated as “enemy combatants”:
And most recently, the National Defense Authorization Act, a defense spending action which is being used to coattail legislation which decimates all Constitutional checks and balances and leaves the door open for the government to declare any region they wish a “combat zone”. These provisions are just a rewritten combination of the Enemy Belligerents Act (both bills were fostered by the hand of John McCain) and the John Warner Defense Authorization Act, giving government free reign to designate any person, even an American citizen, as an enemy combatant. This means that anyone, including you, could one day be detained without Habeas Corpus, without fair trial, without due process, without legal representation, forever. Period.
Sorry, they took out the links. What is really funny is one was to the TSA site. What is the matter, afraid to let Americans know the truth? Here they are, take out the spaces to see them.
under executive authority:

Most all are government sites.
Period.
You think rendition only occurs in Middle Eastern hellholes? Think again. With these bills and others like them, the American public is now fair game.
Rationalizations for the above actions abound. Some of the most common naïve positions include the following:
1) Assassinations Against Al Qaeda Agents, Even If They Are American Citizens, Is Justifiable
The nature of the target is irrelevant to the principle underlying the situation. I don’t care if Anwar al-Awlaki was an agent of Hades, the conscience of a country must take precedence over the short term threats that country faces. If a society is unable to maintain its conscience and its principles in the face of hardship, then perhaps that society is not worthy of survival. There are, indeed, many more important things than national security.
This is how all tyranny begins; with a small group or element of a culture singled out for the loss of human rights, while the rest of the people look on and cheer. Eventually, the exception to the rule becomes the rule, and everyone suffers. Under no circumstances should our government be allowed to rewrite Constitutional protections or our moral compass, even if it means giving so called “terrorists” fair treatment under the law. Never forget, the term “terrorist” is as arbitrary as any nowadays, and could be used against you as easily as it could be used against anyone else.
2) The Domestic Realm Is A Haven For “Homegrown Terrorists”
Again, “homegrown terrorism” is a highly arbitrary label. If one looks at statements and white papers coming from the Department Of Homeland Security, or the Department Of Justice, anyone from Constitutionalists, to Ron Paul supporters, to militia members, to barter networkers and sound money proponents, or anyone who even expresses an interest in any of these subjects, is considered a potential domestic terrorist threat.
Where is this headed? Think about it. If these types of people are already being categorized as extremists, what’s to stop the government form categorizing them as enemy combatants?
3) Rendition And Torture Could Save Lives
Okay. Let’s say for the sake of argument that rendition and torture actually could save some lives, though I have never heard of any of these Jack Bauer moments taking place in the real world. Let’s say my life and those I love could be spared. Frankly, I would rather die than be a party to behavior as reprehensible as kidnapping and torture. I couldn’t care less about the theoretical benefits of the activity. As stated earlier, a nation hanging by the poisonous framework of moral relativism is doomed to failure and decay. Despite the propaganda often spread by elitist elements within our government, our military, and our local law enforcement, you DO NOT need to become the monster in order to defeat the monster. This lie should not be allowed to stand…
4) You Are “Overreacting” To The Legislation, And Americans Will Not Be Targeted
Senator Lindsay Graham, a backer of the National Defense Authorization Act, specifically outlined the bill’s jurisdiction over American citizens and even admitted it makes the U.S. itself a “combat zone” under the international laws of war (while at the same time presenting the lie that Federal due process would somehow be enforced for those who are captured). We who oppose the bill could do a lot more without being rightfully accused of “overreaction”. If Americans are not to be targeted, then why create the bill in the first place? Traditional laws of war would be more than sufficient to handle foreign threats, and domestic response agencies like the FBI could easily continue doing whatever it is they supposedly do to safeguard our country. The ONLY reason to introduce a bill which frees the U.S. Government and the DHS to act militarily within the borders of our own nation would be to target U.S. citizens, and to undermine normal Constitutional processes.
The legislation is self-incriminating. Only a complete dullard would argue otherwise.
5) The Government Is A Body Elected By The People, Therefore They Are One And The Same
The only practical explanation I can think of for someone to actually believe this argument is overmedication. Despite what we’re all taught in middle school, our government as it exists today and has for many decades does not represent the will of the people. Two dominant political parties with cosmetic differences in rhetoric but nearly identical legislative platforms and voting records is not an expression of a legitimately free republic. The system revolves around corporate ideologies of globalization, not elections. Its beneficiaries are a limited and powerful fringe of society, not the masses. It is a rigged game. A fake battle between two gladiators owned by the same Caesar. To say that the people and the government are one-in-the-same is a gross error in judgment.
After researching and acknowledging the course our government has taken, the question then arises; what is the ultimate end result? Barring multiple miracles of a complete economic turnaround, full third party inclusion in our political structure, the deconstruction of the Federal Reserve, the decentralization of financial influence, the reintroduction of Constitutional insulation degraded since 2001, and the complete pullback of troops involved in ongoing wars in the Middle East, there can be only one outcome: total conflict.
We did not create this division. The American people did not ask to be targe
I've never read an Apple agreement either.
Did I stumble upon a book writing contest?
All that text and hardly anyone will read it. You don't understand the flow of sites like this, do you?
If only the Party of No did not have a fetish for Terrorism, we could live like normal human beings.
Heck of a job, Teapublicans.
Liar Old Woman and Son = like my 80 year old mother said = once a b, always a b and I agree. This woman was probably a Bvtch as a youngster and is still one.
I AM MORE OUTRAGED at this Old Woman and her Son using her age and mental and physical problems to LIE and demand that people doing their job be fire and trying to cash in for a big pay day, etc. They both have to have mental problems to blame someone else and expect the taxpayers to pay them for this Old B Bag banging herself with her own walker.
A TERRORIST, CRIMINAL AND A$$HOLES = can be and has been and will be = anyone of any AGE, Size, Weight, Gender, Sexual Preference, Race, Color, Religion, National Origin, Single, Living with someone, married, divorced, etc., have hair, be bald, etc., employed, unemployed, retired, etc., poor, just making it or rich, etc., have pets or no pets, have kids, grandkids, etc. or none, etc. And an Old, B Bag Woman with a walker to me would be suspicious = Perfect means of hiding bombs, etc. in the walker legs = that is why it and other items are scanned.
Lying about a strip search = For her, her dumba$$ son = Bruce = and all other Ignorant People out there = a strip search is where a law enforcement officer, of the same sex as the person going to be strip searched =
has the person take off every piece of clothing = then the LEO puts on a medically approved glove = feels all around the breast area, has a female squat and puts their gloved finger up their bottom two holes of their private regions = and feels for contraband = guns, knives, drugs, stolen jewels, etc.
Then puts on a new glove and using a small flashlight = again uses their finger and a small flashlight to check inside the person's entire mouth = roof, sides and including under the tongue, and uses the flashlight to look up inside the person's nostrils, then inside their ears, and then goes through the person's hair, clear to the scalp and feeling around the ears, etc. They even check the bottoms of the person's feet and under their arms.
And if the person is wearing any type of wigs, falls, attachments, or toupees they must be taken off and checked or with sewn in or glued in toupees = the netting or whatever attaches to the person's scalp must be checked very well. Also, if the person is wearing dentures, a bridge, etc. and or a prosthetic part anywhere on their body = those also must be totally removed and checked along with that part of the body checked.
for a male, the male is told to spread his legs apart while the LEO uses their gloved hand and feels all around the male's bottom private regions, then the male must squat or bend over and the LEO puts their gloved finger up their bottom one hole, checking that area = and all of the other areas as detailed above.
Yes = I was also strip searched as above = as was everyone else attending the LEO academy so we would #1. know the LAWs, #2. know how to fill out all the paperwork #3. know how to take photos, X-rays, etc. #4. know how to do it properly and #5. know what it felt like both physically and mentally = for those who have a problem being checked.
Without wearing any protective gear, etc. = We were also pepper sprayed over our entire face from 2 ft away and tasered from 6 ft away at full power. We also were put 6 to a 10 ft x 15 ft room and first gas canisters were fired into it and then concussion grenades.
Anyone refusing to go through that training were immediately expelled from the LEO academy along with the whiners and ones that starting crying or bvtching afterwards = Not LEO material.
Federal and State's Laws dictate when each of those body cavity and other body checks can be done and when that type of force can be used. The punishment for any LEO, etc. violating those laws are severe = usually ending up with termination = SO = NO LEO, etc. are allowed by LAW to perform any of those checks and use of force = ever = and never do it unless they absolutely have to.
The time it takes for a strip search is 30 minutes or longer. MUCH longer than than a pat down. Because = the person must first be told the LAWs regarding why the search must be done, and the date and time must be noted, then the person must then undress and the LEO put on gloves, etc. and write down the date and time right before the actual strip search begins and again after it is finished. Then another report must be made as to the person's behavior - if they cussed, resisted (fought), puked, cried, peed, farted or shvt, etc. and if anything was found or not and if yes = what was found must be logged in very precise and detailed including full description, measurements, weights and photos taken, etc.
Fully loaded Glocks, Revolvers, Derringers, other guns, sheathed knives, other weapons, jewelry, handcuff keys and drugs, etc. have been and are surgically removed from out of rectums and vaginas on a weekly basis. All State and Federal Prisons and most County or other local jails all have an X-ray chair just for that purpose = to document what was found up there in those regions, after a strip search determined they had something up a hole, etc.
So this Old B of a Woman and her Son are LYING about being stripped searched. Never Happened.
STAY HOME OR DRIVE, Take a Bus or Train, etc. = If this Old B Bag does not want to follow the rules = then she needs to keep her Fng Loud Mouth home and not fly or have her dumba$$ son Bruce drive her back and forth from Long Island to Florida or she needs to take a bus or train, etc.
That goes for everyone traveling. BTW, yes I was a passenger on many different Aircraft Carrier's planes = going East Coast to West Coast of USA bi-weekly for several years. Including after nine eleven.
I was pulled to the side during "spot checks" that certain Aircraft Carrier's request TSA to perform at different Airport Terminals. If I was wearing an outer jacket, coat, sweater, hat, gloves, mittens, etc. I was asked to remove them. I was also asked to remove my shoes and socks each time and then I was patted down. It took no time at all = because I followed the Rules and Laws and did not bvtch and moan, etc. Once = I had a portable, removable cast from my foot up to my knee and I was asked to remove it so it could be checked, plus my bare foot and leg.
I never bvtched and moaned or "felt singled out" or "picked on", etc. Then other times, I was pulled out of the line and taken to a table = right in plain view of all other passengers the entire time = and told my carry on luggage was going to be "checked". I never had a problem with this either = The entire contents of my carry on luggage was slowly and carefully dumped out onto this table and gone through = piece by piece. I was complimented on following the LAW and rules by using the exact and required containers for liquids, having no illegal items, etc.
I am not an idiot and carry no items that would cause any embarrassment to me = like others might bvtch and moan and want a big pay day for = such as sex toys, lubricant, condoms, etc., certain magazines, literature, CDs, DVDs, etc. If you are going to be embarrassed about items like those or your underwear, etc. then place all of that into checked baggage. Heck, at my age, I purposely carry certain items just for the kick of it. All legal = like 100 multi-colored, multi-designed, multi-functional condoms, lubricant and sexy underwear. TSA checkers were always professional and never looked or showed any expression and never said a word other than praising me for my patience and understanding and having everything right.
Do not make a scene and bvtch and moan, etc. because all that does is make others DESPISE YOU and wished you were not on their flight.
This Old B Bag was and is LOOKING FOR A PAYDAY = crying wolf. She and her son needs to be added to the NO FLY LISTS for all airlines = which is also provided to all transportation company's to make them aware that they are problems and suspicious.
Plus if she, her son and others ever read all of the Aircraft Carriers and other Transportation Company's Rules. etc. = since 1960's when I first started flying = they have always stated that anyone with ANY injury, illness, disease, pregnant, physically or mentally disabled OR ELDERLY = MUST check with their personal medical physician before flying anywhere.
If this Old B Bag would have checked with her personal medical physician = as she is required to do before boarding any Aircraft = that medical physician would have told her that the Scanners will not bother any defibrillator, pace maker, medical pump or other medical devices which would cause injury, discomfort, etc. to the patient.
Just imagine all the MEN with PENILE IMPLANTS getting a hard on going through a scanner, etc. It just will not happen because of the scanner = might happen because he gets aroused by a female, male or transgender person close by him = but not the scanner.
And anyone on blood thinners bleed heavier than those not on them = and do so also by just hitting a body part up against a counter, corner, etc. or in this case THIS Old Woman banged herself with her own walker. Even having a strained, hard bowel movement (shvt) could cause those on blood thinners to bleed heavily out their rectum.
Does she call the EMT's, paramedics or rescue then at her home = probably not = and because she would have to pay for it = she most likely takes care of it herself = like she should have done this time after banging herself. And of course, she says that the EMT told her to see a doctor when she arrived in Florida to make sure the wound didn't get infected." Because they are forced by their employer to say those type of things and because she is not healthy and probably on all kinds of meds as she would have been asked that before any EMT, paramedic, etc. would treat her.
So this Dumba$$ Old Bvitch wants to blame TSA or anyone near her because she banged her own leg with her own walker and wants the American Taxpayers to pay her = Shame on her and her son.
If this Woman is that absent minded or causes bodily injury to herself on numerous occasions = then she needs to be sent for a full medical workup and psych. evaluation to determine if it is safe for her to live alone (if she does) and if she does, then maybe she needs to be sent to live with good ole Brucie Goosie who would probably ship her off to a nursing home, etc.
This woman and her son are nothing but IGNORANT A$$HOLES trying to cash in and the good thing about it is that now the whole world knows it.
What I can't believe is the number of intellectually challenged individuals who believe this TSA crap actually has anything to do with security. The powers that be are trying to break our spirits like holding a lab rat until he stops fighting. There is very little struggle left in the once great USA. The land of the free and the home of the brave has fallen. We did not defeat the "evil empire" as Ronald Reagan said .... we became it! Delude yourselves with whatever politically correct lies help you sleep at night. All together now - say "baaaaaaaa".
Knine
Long winded , I usually do not read posts that are as long and numerous(in a row)as yours are. I have to say, it is a scary thought to all of what you have posted. Makes a lot of sense what you have wrote(typed) good points on all. We're scr*wed for sure. And with no clear choice for a new leader of this country.
Just plain and simple, disgusting and sickening…. TSA should bury them self’s in disgrace…
Knine #1.39 So what is one to think about H.R. 1388, Obama’s National Civilian Security Force bill which is slowly working its way around Capital Hill? It is formally named the “Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act.” It provides for uniforms to be worn by the young volunteers (up to 250,000 of them) and for the establishment of a 4-year “public service academy” to train new public service leaders
From this I get that they are forming(trying to) another SS or a Hitler youth within the U.S. To act as the SS and the Hitler youth did, on its own people. Am I correct in that Impression?... So then...the third Antichrist is in the United States...If that is so (to both this youth and Antichrist thing
If only the Party of No did not have a fetish for Terrorism, we could live like normal human beings.
Heck of a job, Teapublicans.
The Way It Is, you are exactly the reason so many people hate LEO's. Civilians are always liars and LEO's are always right, no matter the situation. Even when LEO's are videotaped violating a person's rights and physically abusing them they rarely receive anything close to appropriate punishment.
There was a piece of crap NYPD rookie who was videotaped charging a bicyclist and knocking him off his bike. The patrolman lied in his report by stating that the cyclist drove straight at him. If the incident were not videotaped, you can be sure the cyclist would have been imprisoned for assaulting a LEO. What happened to the patrolman who committed assault and lied on his report? He was fired. No jail time. No fines.
Then of course we have Rodney King and similar police brutality that rarely administers appropriate punishment to officers. And in cases where incidents are not taped? The officers side is always accepted as the true and accurate version of events.
People lie, whether they are LEO or civilian. You have no idea whether or not the TSA agent is lying. You say a body cavity search is a reason strip searches take so long. This woman did not claim there was a body cavity search. She claims she was told to disrobe. That's it. A person can remove their pants and shirt in short order, even if they are elderly. It is entirely possible that this TSA agent was seeking to humiliate this woman for having the audacity to refuse to enter the imaging device. It would not be the first time that a LEO did something like that and it won't be the last.
I'm curious. Did you graduate the academy? If so, judging by your hostile rant, you must be a "shining" example of a LEO.
Killroy, you might want to try actually reading the provisions of H.R. 1388 rather than accept someone else's erroneous interpretation.
This is not just for youth. It is also for retirees who wish to remain active and help their communities.
This is also nothing like the Hitler Youth. GIVE is for adults and not the 14-18 year olds that the Hitler Youth program indoctrinated. This is not a political indoctrination. This is not a military training camp. This is a community service initiative. Building and cleaning parks and hiking trails, doing food drives, etc... and also offers the opportunity to take part in classes that teach you how to respond during natural disasters and national emergencies. There is no military training involved, as was the case with the various Hitler Youth programs.
But, don't accept my interpretation. READ THE BILL YOURSELF! You lazy sheeple... Blindly following others without verifying their "facts" is what leads to corrupt and evil movements.
The TSA said no stripsearch was done, if that is true then the pat-down should have been recorded. since there is NO recording then it is logical to believe TSA did in fact do a strip search.
If we could simply expel all the REAL Muslim terrorist types from our midst, cancel their Visa's, and send them back where they came from, then we WOULDN'T NEED TO SEARCH LITTLE OLD LADIES AT THE AIRPORT. But that will never happen because these totalitarian One-World-Government megalomaniacs like Obama, the Democrats and some Republicans, NEED to keep the threat of Islamic terrorists INTERWOVEN IN THE "MULTICULTURAL" MESS THEY HAVE FOISTED UPON US, because it gives them a tool for mass manipulation.
It's actually quite brilliant on their part: You can profess to value an "inclusive, open society", when you are actually intentionally mixing these toxic elements into our society so they can be used later as an excuse to FORCE more government control and surveillance of citizens, and remove constitutional protections "for your safety".
The woman is telling the truth and the TSA is lying. End of story.
NY Mike and the way it is- you both need to get a freaking grip. This site is meant for one-liners and/or lenghty diatribes. Who are you to say what gets read? "the way it is" what is your freakin' problem? Did your momma raise you to be so disgusting and disrespectful? IF so maybe she should have a go-around with the TSA. "Dumbass old bitch", "ignorant a--holes","old bag looking for a payday=cring wolf". Who the hell made you an expert on scanners and blood thinners or an expert on what other people are thinking and doing when you aren't even there. If you were a mind reader you would be making a lot of $ not sitting if front of a computer anonymously talking sh** and making an A--hole out of yourself. What in Gods' name does "penile implants" have to do with anything. Shows where your mind is and that your likely " not getting any." Nothing was said about the woman and her son trying to make any money. Are you jealous it wasn't you so that you'd have a chance to "cash in"?? Get a life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This issue is really amusing when you consider that many Americans don't support "racial" profiling, but then on the other hand, they're appalled when a "random" pat down catches a little old lady. Inconvenient for sure, and as many feel....probably entirely unnecessary. You can't have it both ways though........I for one support racial profiling.
It's not fair but for the most part racial profiling is more effective than random checks (although I don't have a problem with random checks as they should be a part of the security practice as well).
Until middle eastern Muslim men quit blowing @!$%# up and killing innocent people they are fair game in my book, and we should be allowed to profile in airline security. No, this is not fair to the other millions of non-terrorist Arab types, but logic dictates that profiling is effective.......to not use it as a security tool is dumb.
A couple of things here. The Patriot Act has been in place a long time ago. I believe that our televisions have been made with two way speakers now for about 25yrs. or more. So we pay to have a satellite put into space and then they hook up a few wires to the tv and they flip a switch and they can listen to everything we're saying inside our own homes. Then there is GPS along with North Star and cell phones and all the other toys out there. So this has been going on since Reagans terms in office, he's the one that stole our freedom, Dubya just went and tried to finish what Reagan started. Especially kill the middle class.
Now the strip search. Ok, don't they do a body cavity search automatically when they do a strip search? Whats the prupose of a strip search when you can hide a little bomb inside your body? Then you have the goofballs that will blow themselves up, so what would stop them from putting a bomb inside themselves and blowing themselves up and everyone else especially if it happens in a plane? So really, don't tell me some women, (at least I hope it was a women) went and stuck her fingers in places on this little old lady that dosen't even have the slightest chance of resembling a terrorist because she didn't want to walk through a machine that might just possible affect her health? Wow, whats this country coming too?
Ok, one more thing and after this I'm done. What would happen if the TSA got a guy in there and had him take his clothes off and they guys actually looking forward to the body cavity search? Lets just say the TSA person is a guy and he has the rubber glove on and the passenger is naked and bent over for the search to begin and once it starts the passenger starts to push back on the TSA agent moaning with pleasure and gyrating his hips, saying deeper, deeper? Ok, whos the victim here? Maybe, just maybe they exchange numbers and get married, who knows but wouldn't more pleople with these kind of sexual tendencies be flying more often? Maybe it just might be good for the airline business, but then they should have their own line at the airports too. If they body cavity searched the poor little old lady then thats just plain disgusting. How did that TSA agent go home and eat that day, how did they sleep, thats just plain disgusting period. Shame on them.
Ron B-2757074
The use of your caps is like yelling so you need to know How to use them . I may not have read H.R. 1388 But you failed to see I said "sounds like" from what he posted maybe you should not try to put words that I did not say.
And what type of person are you ...Sheepie? that is not even a word get real. I also posted what I thought to his post.He makes a lot more sense than you do anyways. I was not talking to you anyways. Lazy .. You poor poor man. WHy because I have not read the HR1388? man your nuts. I am not a follower like you seem to be . I like what he posted when you follow I believe it would have said something like... I'm with you man,or I agree .
Just like the Hitler youth and the SS, they had the best intentions for its citizens, then after a while the monster raised its ugly head and it was to late. Control of the population was acheved Speak out and we take you out.
Part of one of Knines posts
By the way, Hitler's Germany did the same with their Youth, or did you ever bother to study history so it could not be repeated? Funny, here it is raising it's ugly head again, and all three branches of "our" government are in it.
It seems that history will repeat it's self because you are the one with blinders on not me. SO why don't you just stop reading things that are not there. By the way Knine also has two law degree's, I would also be more inclined to agree with him over you any day so you always have the option to hit that Ignore this author any time you wish .Follow that one? Or should I slow it down for you? It is in the little square to the right of the voting square.
"Sheeple" is a slang word some people use to define people who act like sheep.
Again, you were drawing conclusions from somebody else's ignorant interpretation of H.R. 1388. A well informed intelligent person would analyze facts for themselves.
He has 2 law degrees? I have an IQ of 134. I am not impressed with his degrees. There is a man who earned a PhD in mathematics from the University of Michigan. He later became an assistant professor at Berkley by the very young age of 25. That man is Ted Kaczynski. Any paranoid delusional fool with a mind for academics can earn a degree or two. K-nine would be one of those fools. That is if he actually has the degrees he claims to have. Otherwise, he's just a fool.
I am the one with the blinders on? I review facts to discern truth which is what you are not doing. My mind is wide open to truth and enlightenment while you suckle at the teet of another's ignorance.
Maybe the screener had a thing for GMILFs.
He looked @ her goodies.?
Can you say "senile"?
Scalzo - I'm w/ you. Dementia can cause the elderly to imagine things as well.
More and more people are asking for wheelchairs to board planes because of the difficulties inherent in today's boarding procedures.
Yea, TSA does NOT strip search. Local law enforcement does, but only in extreme circumstances. Also, males do not screen females, and vice versa. Do you really think that TSO wanted to go above and beyond and strip search an old woman? My guess is no. Also 11 minutes does not equal 2.5 hours. Something ain't right here. But hey, good to see another MSN article pointing the finger without all the facts.
Let's not bring logic into this.
And just how is that supposed to help catch terrorists? Just because you have a positive ID on someone that is supposed to guarantee that they're not going to do something crazy? I don't think a suicide bomber is going to care if you know who he is...he's on a one way trip regardless...his last trip anywhere. I have never heard of a suicide bomber repeat offender. And if it were a hijacking, they want everyone to know who they are. Positive ID just helps them get noticed by whoever they are trying to get noticed by in that case.
Just because strip searches are not in their policy does not mean that the agent did not order her to strip. It is not the policy in police departments that it's officers abuse a person's rights or savagely beat them while in custody but there are officers who have done it and do it anyway.
tomorrowsnews
Why should anyone give their fingerprints to them,or a retina scan. I have never been fingerprinted before they do not need to have them at all. So sorry that is a bad Idea. That would be even more of a police state than what we have now.
That's right. Because we know that every terrorist will do thier deed the very first time on a plane. So if they get on once and "no boom", then by your logic they will never, ever be a threat and we can let them just skip on by the checkpoints because, hey, they been fingerprinted, we know who they are, they flew once without incident, so they must be safe forever.
Still feel confident your plan is foolproof? After all. We know all terrorists are born that way, and they're never recruited later in life. So, fly once and don't blow anyone up, next ride is "free" to bring anything you want on the plane. Because, hey, we all know the terrorists would never plan things ahead of time.
I wonder why, amongst all the literati on these comments, no one has bothered to note that the author of this story seems not to understand how and the ways English is used properly. It reads, at least to me, that he/she may be an ESL student and is just trying to get a rise from us with either a false, nonexistent or an obvious (but really needed) attack on the evils of "Homeland Security".
Seems to me it should be absolutely no problem for the inquisitors to record the person's name, address and phone number on a list of people who had to go through this humilitation of an American citizen. That would tend to prove there is likely some truth laying some where in their story. So I wonder: Why no check point on the people conducting this humiliation?
I am also happy to see so many people who are upset over our government's use of force on Americans.
"When the government fears the people, their will be liberty. When the people fear the government, there will be tyranny." --
Duke of Shao to King Li-Wang, ca 845 B.C.
tomorrowsne So sorry for you and what you have to go through, And you should not have to explain the whys to the beeps. Su-ks to be you, Very sorry. I mean that sincerely.
So far, The times that I have flown I have so far only have had the metal detector, An I might add that it has NEVER gone off. I have my shoes an belt off, my laptop and camera are out and the way they like them to be (with the batteries out as well). and no metal on my person at all. So far, the fingerprinting on my license, not yet and It is just a way of getting information on people that they do not have on file yet. They just want to get EVERYONE and that is a crime. (if you ask me). I am not in the military, and my DNA is not on file as I am not a criminal, and have never been arrested either. I also have nothing to hide. but it is time to start fearing this type of B.S. just to fly. It is not right. I want my rights an freedom back, I have also stopped flying and went back to driving.
I had a great trip driving through Canada this fall I could never have see this land from a plane. It took about 7 days but it was worth it to me. It also puts money in the hands of small business owners of motels and restraunts. For the price of the ticket I use to spend. I did not spend the 1,800.00 driving from Alaska to michigan. Best of luck to all of you that are and have to fly
Just plain and simple, disgusting and sickening…. TSA should bury them self’s in disgrace…
Catmoves: What? The article reads like a junior reporter, if anything. Bad grammar and misplaced commas don't automatically mean someone is ESL. It just means they don't proofread their own work, and obviously, their editor didn't bother to, either. And why would you post someone's personal info like phone numbers and addresses in an article? So they could be further harassed by idiots like you not believing that the story is true? Wtf.
I do not believe the woman in this story and this psycho woman
could very well be a terrorist. If she is so sweet then why is she lying about
this story? Better safe than sorry in my opinion.
Enough of this PC bull crap from the TSA. Profile for the likely terrorists and stop insulting and harming American elderly and children. Washington morons have make a joke of our so called airport securityl. Let's import some real security experts from Israel for the airports. They have a clue of how it needs to be done.
Kilroy, you were fingerprinted (hands and feet) at birth. And now they are micro-chipping babies at birth without parental knowledge ( I met a pharmacist 3 years ago, leaving the profession when she found out about the secret micro-chipping), also your dna is being logged and registered, if you see a doctor, dentist, go to the ER.
Lazerous 200 and Richard-2513701, like a few have noted, it is S.1867. Obama supposidly will veto it. Research this bill and be ready to be scared. VERY scared. S.1867 is being swept under the rug by the media. The big question is why?
The TSA is a joke. Chinamart flunkies. It is a shame here in Orlando, when a Iraq veteran can't get a job with the TSA but someone who worked for Walmart for 2 years does. Question that.
I'd bet they'd think an Iraq veteran is overqualified for a TSA position, and I'm sure in most cases they'd be right.
And you believed the pharmacist? That story is so far fetched it should be in a comic book. Babies being microchipped without the parents knowledge and not one medical professional involved has ever brought it to the medias attention...for more that 3 years, too, according to your story. Write a script and sell it to Hollywood because that's the only place a story like this would have any value.
1984...here we come....
Geeze, jj1971...we are HERE!
You must have been on some great drug binge there. You missed it by 27 years.
The TSA should be held accountable for Lying to the public. This is about the 12th time that, when someone was strip searched, treated badly or had medical devices destroyed or seized that, then, the TSA lied and said they did not do it.
All I see from the TSA are a bunch of goons and liars with nothing better to do than come onto this board and try to intimidate us.
We're already there. And you're a thought criminal!
R Scalzo, he's referring to the book by George Orwell. You should read it. It will all seem so eerily familiar.
How does a TSA official review the search which then they say they do not record?
JEM, I am hoping your wife, daughter, mother and grand mother gets searched
real soon..Preferably invasive BELOW with a gloved finger and speculum
who knows they might ejoy it, as you obviously did.......LOL....KevinMC,
I aggree with you.
Comment # 4 deleted, political derail which led to many CoH violations.
Freeze!!! Up against the wall and spread 'em, granny. You aren't fooling anyone!
This will probably be followed up with a law suit against the government with the hopes of a quick monetary settlement. If this is such a traumatic experience, then she should take a bus when returning to NY.
What a totally ignorant and insensitive comment.
But totally realistic.
Yeah, totally realistic. You idiot. Your a perfect example of our continually declining education system.
VERY realistic. She cannot get around without a walker, which somehow she managed to fit into her lap in a wheelchair, which she was able to operate by herself. Her son states she has a difficult time traveling, yet that fact didn't deter anyone from sending her off by herself. She claims blood was gushing from her leg, and her sock was SOAKED in blood, and as we all know, if the other passengers on her flight would have seen that, they would have screamed bloody murder (not for her, but out of fear of being contaminated), and she did not see a doctor after. Yeah, I'm sure an attorney has already been contacted. And up go ticket prices again.
Oh, and if she's that easy of a bleeder (she said the walker BANGED her leg), then she needs to have someone with her at all times for OUR protection.
Mixer, Like you would know anything about education. You moron!
Taking a bus won't avoid the genital gropes from the TSA they are going to be at bus stops, train stations, sporting events, public events and malls real soon.
@ post #6.4 ... those walkers fold. I'm 74 and my skin is so brittle that a bump on a door frame or barking my shin will bring blood flow. Hope you will have better health when your time comes. Taking blood thinners would make the wound worse. If she does sue I hope she wins.
Brave old lady, bless her.
Sweet comeback, jrh. I'm impressed.
@JmB66....You're like another Columbo. Or Monk. Have you considered working as a crime profiler? I'm truly hoping that you are being sarcastic. But, one never knows. Our country is crawling with jrh1194's.
Take Amtrack don't they still run?
Or they find out the entire story is BS.
Why didn't Grandma arrive at the airport earlier. I'am always told to be at the airport at least 2 hours early.
Hey mixer,
This country has too many whiners like you. Quit your complaining.
jrh--When are you going to give up being a moron? [Only a moron calls others a moron!]
I've taken both Amtrak and Greyhound and I'd say your chances of having someone cop a feel are quite a bit higher on both of those modes of transportation. The only difference is you'd be getting groped by some half drunk traveler instead of a TSA agent.
Hey Honeybird, I guess that is why you just called me a moron.
benr-I hope you're wrong, but I fear you might be right.
This is no longer about terror threats. That ended a long time ago. You are the very reason that fear sells so well in America. Welcome to the NEW Jihad America. Really? New Jihad America... What happened to the old one? And you obviously don't know what the word jihad means. Keep your butt glued to the bar stool/soap box/podium that you use nightly and allow the rest of the world to progress....ok?
Comment # 585 deleted for grenade trolling.
mixer418 and David-1467374, you are suspended for a day for violating rule # 1 of the Code of Honor.
ya she just looks like all the terrorists i know
If you know what a terrorist looks like, you've got one up on all of us. If people want to fly free of terrorism, this is what all of us are subjected to unfortunately.
Maybe we should hire more intelligent people at the airports to screen people who really need screening instead of punishing elderly folks who just want to get on the plane and avoid the hassles.
The way to stop "terrorists" is to go back to metal detectors and allow people with CCW licenses on board.
OK liberals, fire away with your nasty comments!
tex-478405 says: "The way to stop "terrorists" is to go back to metal detectors and allow people with CCW licenses on board. OK liberals, fire away with your nasty comments!"
I'm a liberal, but I'm not going to consider this a nasty comment...The day that they start letting anybody on board airplanes start carrying concealed weapons WILL BE the day I stop flying...That's ALL we need...a bunch of shoot happy people flying off at the handle (excuse the pun) and shooting up everything at about 40,000 feet.
Generally, people with CCW permits have proven themselves to be responsible, safe and trained legal gun owners. Not the "shoot happy" people you describe, genafan. The people you're thinking of are thugs and criminals who pretty much don't bother to buy their guns legally and get CCW permits.
genafan201
Did you know that on ever commercial flight there is cargo in the belly, and some of that is not even searched or scaned, because they are from their so call " safe customers" that do business with the airlines all the time. It would not take much for someone that is less than reputable to slip something in the cargo that would blow the plane to pieces. So a lot of good scanning passengers will do then.
The Airlines have also stated that they make Most all their money on hauling cargo not the passengers. So the next time you do not get your luggage when you arrive thank the cargo
Sorry but I could not remember all of them..... True enough Sir Thank-You for the add ons
So screen EVERYBODY/THING...let's see how much a ticket will cost then.
Point is...yes, I know that stuff happens, and yes that I know luggage sits on the tarmac unattended, and yes, I know that there are any number of other things that probably happen that I don't want to know about. But, (and no, I AM NOT anti-gun) I do not want ANYBODY sitting next to me with a weapon, any sort of weapon, legal or not.
File this with the "cops shut down 8 year olds' lemonade stand", "shark attack", and "crazy weather" stories. It's been done to death.
There are those of us who are interested in the shark attack news. If you are not, then *stop* clicking on, reading and leaving your complaints. They are legitimate news stories, just as automobile accident reports are legitimate.
no
Until it happens to you or one of your own loved ones, if you have such. My guess is you live in a cave somewhere or in your mom'sasement and haven't the slightest idea of fairness or or history or the fact that you will be old one day, too. Let's hope the people you come in contact with when YOU are 84 (if you are allowed to live so long, not sure you're worth it) are nicer and more respectiveul and yes Christian than you stupid morons.
They made a story out of her hurting herself? Really?
It's very amusing that you are on such a high horse while being so disrespectful of the opinions of those people above you. The fact is, that this kind of story is stale. Just another sensationalist story for our ADD times. The only new thing is that this woman hurt herself.
I disagree with TSA's methods, and as such no longer fly, but I understand their supposed intent. If the TSA made it as policy to allow the elderly to pass through freely, guess what? The terrorists could exploit that and we would hear about the "Granny Grenade" who blew up an airliner.
I know this may come as a shock to you, but you are no Christian. You are a hateful person, who will no doubt find other things to feign outrage over in the near future.
But no matter, since you violated the Newsvine Code of Honor moderator Sally will suspend you for insulting another member, violating rule #1 of the Newsvine Code of Honor:
Think Ill just keep on driving in my car I bet she does to the next time.
Except the TSA is now extending its ViPR teams to the highways as well, so in a few years you'll be getting a mandatory colonoscopy from the TSA just to drive to work.
Or the old bat could simply be spinning a yarn, hoping some lawyer takes her case on contingency.
You call her an old bat Who's the hypocrite nimrod?
Mike I suspect you don't have a grasp of the meaning of the word hypocrite.
I am sure that he doesn't
will are you an old bat? without that information hypocrisy might be an accurate accusation
Maybe you'll get old one day and regret your words...that's what I'm hoping for
Most elderly people I know are not looking for a hand out. The TSA has been known to take things way too far. I believe her account. I fly at least 50 times a year for business and some airports are worth avoiding.
So are some passengers.
Check the mirror, MSNBCstupid.
I hope you don't call your Grandma an old bat.
Lets see, who do I believe in this story, the woman who has nothing apparent to gain(no lawsuit at the moment) or the agency that since its inception has molested kids and constantly hired smugglers and thieves?
You are wrong Robert. According to today's New York Daily News, she has filed a law suit. Apparently she has quite a bit to gain. So now who do you believe?
For all you old people haters, I hope you leave this paradise young enough!! Otherwise, you will become an old bat, old geezer, have dementia, need a wheelchair, your kids or caregiver will have a tough time dressing you in 11 minutes. You people writing these nasty comments about old people are truly sick!!
Germ-3293170
being old doesn't give you a free pass to be a jerk. there are jerks in every age group.
Big tough TSA strip searching little old great grandma all in the name of liberal progressive political correctness.
I would like to know when politics were correct about anything. Take their political correctness and shove it up thier ass.
Hey dip sh*t, TSA was started by your hero G W Bush! OMG, the ignorance on NewsVine is astounding!
Bud and Mike are both correct. Now you two need to face the truth. 2 sides of the same coin...
Mike's right. The original king of big government, King George the Second, created the TSA. Same flunky employees as before 9/11, but much bigger salaries.
The only thing the left can do now is resort to name calling. I am no fan of GW and it doesn't matter who started the TSA. It is run by a bunch of PC rules rather than common sense, which is what liberal progress-ism is all about.
With this lovely Federal Debit we have here is a good place to start cutting..... The TSA has been a joke since day 1 and is only getting worse..... It is time to SHUT THEM DOWN..... Hey the Tea Party cannot complain it is not cutting Taxes To The Rich, it is getting rid of a evasion to our Privacy, Dignity, & Rights as American Citizen.....
Everyone should boycot the airlines until they get rid of the TSA and that goes double for Mall of America where they will be next. What a disgrace it is to live in America.
If you knew the truth about 9/11 you would not believe it.
Jeffery, what universe do you live in? Let me get this straight; you want to boycott the airlines for something they have nothing to do with? Am I correct?
Ahhh, but I see you believe 9/11 was an inside job.
Tighten down that tin foil hat buddy, and watch the skies. The black helicopters are coming for you.
If living here is a disgrace, you are free to leave (unlike many other countries in the world).
Oh, and BTW, how is it that you "know the truth about 9/11"?
Just curious.
Watch the videos or talk to someone in the DIA if you even know what that is.
WTF Jeffrey you are a booger eating moron!
mike, one thing about it for sure, Jeffrey has the best manners.
Can you tell government is forcing into our lives more as time passes?
People should stop complaining about TSA and start applauding them for the job they do. If TSA didn't do their job, everyone and their grandma would be able to board planes and seriously jeopardize the safety of the American population. With individuals getting more and more crafty with the way they carry out their crimes against humanity, we should be thankful that TSA is searching this woman and everyone else. Otherwise, 82 year olds would be able to board planes easily with whatever they choose because TSA wouldn't stop them.
Let me guess, you work for the TSA.
Berre, are you serious? Now please step away from the keyboard and go take your medication.
Damn MSNBStupid, you should change your handle to JustPlainStupid, because you can't recognize sarcasm when you read it.
Are you serious, TSA needs to get fired! I am sure there are a lot of good people, but this is crazy, they need to go after the people that have the ability to hurt us, not grandmothers for God sakes! We had things stolen from carry-ons, by the TSA here where I live at our airport. Caught on tape, thank God my friend demanded them to check the tapes! So if that is doing their job, we are in serious trouble.
Another Government run program, that says it all!
And exactly WHO are the people you are talking about AmericaFirst? You certainly couldn't be talking about racial profiling now are you? Grandma could very well be one of the people who have that ability. Grandma could have been paid a LOT of money. You think when people reach a certain age that they suddenly become humble, feeble, and weak? Hardly.
The only danger the people of the United States face is our own government!
My goodness, Drifter. That's certainly an interesting POV. Let's guess: you've never been out of this country, have you, in spite of your handle?
Mike: You don't understand the meaning of the word sarcasm, either. Two for two.
drifter is correct. For 74 years I have watched the government take more and more of our freedoms. And I have been out of country several times.
What job does the TSA do?
Robbery: Over 500 discharged for theft from passengers.
Sexual Assault under color of law via the "enhanced pat down"
Reckless endangerment: Tampering with medical devices, confiscating insulin, damaging aircraft.
Threatening and intimidation: This is a crime in most jurisdictions.
Abduction of a passenger by a TSA agent in uniform at the airport.
Child pornography
While off duty, theft in uniform.
While off duty, rape in uniform.
Taking bribes to look the other way so that a illegal drug shippment will go through.
Damaging 9 aircraft at O'hare airport, delaying 40 flights.
Marking bags as screened without actually screening them.
Pulling a woman's blouse down, exposing her breasts in public.
Hiding video tape evidence of wrong doing, and lying in court.
Getting high on and off the job.
Jailing passengers who complain about TSA misconduct.
Failing their own internal security checks.
Losing uniforms, badges, and security keys.
Operating X-ray devices without state licenses or training.
And the list goes on, and on, and on.
The TSA should be abolished, but failing that, TSA agents should be required to:
There needs to be a civilian review board at each airport to hear complaints against TSA agents, with the power to suspend and/or revoke TSA agents licence to practice, impose fines and other disciplinary sanctions.
In the meantime, here are some signs that should be posted at each security screening area:
WARNING:
The ADVANCED IMAGING TECHNOLOGY (AIT) Scanners used at this screening facility employ radiation. They have not been inspected or tested by the Department of Health for safety to passengers, pilots, or aircrew. They have not been approved by the Commissioner of Health for operation in this state.
The operators of these machines have not passed the required national examination approved by
the Commissioner of Health for limited x-ray machine operators.
These scanners may be hazardous to your health. Use at your own risk.
WARNING:
Employees of the Transportation Security Administration have been caught stealing passenger's property at this and other locations. Please keep your possessions in view at all times. Report all instances of theft to airport police immediately.
WARNING:
Employees of the Transportation Security Administration may offer to let you bypass security if you agree to sexual assault, or threaten to delay you or have you arrested if you do not submit to their sexual advances. Law enforcement officers have been alerted to this tactic. If you are threatened
or propositioned in this manner by airport security personnel, please contact airport police immediately.
WARNING:
The State Department of Child Protective Services reminds parents and guardians that child abuse can happen anywhere, and that the child's caretaker has a duty to make a reasonable effort to stop child sexual abuse by another person. If you witness Child Sexual Abuse during the screening process, please contact airport police and child protective services immediately!
Now the TSA is running checkpoints on our highways w/o warrants. Next they will be pulling people off the street and searching our homes in the middle of the night in order to "keep us safe".
The Gestapo, Stasi, and NKVD all used the same tactics.
How far are we going to let this go? The TSA is a pernicious, unconstitutional abomination visited upon us by our overlords in order to keep us in a permanent state of fear and obedience. It is nothing more than a mechanism of social control. End the TSA!
Which states is this happening?
I'd sure like to know. Maybe it's in the state of confusion.
TSA VIPR teams in Tennesee. See video:

gsdavis,
You wrote: "The TSA is a pernicious, unconstitutional abomination visited upon us by our overlords in order to keep us in a permanent state of fear and obedience. It is nothing more than a mechanism of social control. End the TSA!" Now, if you'd substitute "The Republican Party" for "The TSA," I could agree with you.
Sorry, Michael, but it has gone way beyond party. The people no longer have any protection from the predators in Washington. Just a couple of days ago the Senate voted 93-7 to pass a defense appropriations bill that included an amendment allowing the military to detain U.S. citizens, on U.S. soil, without due process and for an indefinite period. This is Soviet-style policy that the entire Senate, save for 7, voted for. How do you like that for bi-partisanship?
You can keep drinking the two party kool aid if you want, but I no longer believe that either party cares about the people of this country beyond keeping us cowed and siphoning as much of our money as they can. Democrats and Republicans are just two wings of the same bird of prey.
@ #15.5 ... no one could have said it better.
gjdavis60,I saw that video and it's enough to make you barf.Unfricken believable. You won't be able to fart with out these friggen Nazis breathing down your neck. These Dummies on here with their wise cracking wise ass comments about people who despise the TSA, are in for One HELL of a Rude Awakening.
This is what this pathetic country has turned into and I'll say it again.
THE UNITED POLICE STATES OF AMERICA.WAKE UP PEOPLE AND GET YOU HEADS OUT OF YOUR BACK ENDS,AND BUBBLE HEADED UNIVERSES.
First it was pre-employment and random drug screening. Then it was the TSA screening people as they boarded planes, and random seatbelt checkpoints on roadways by local police. Now they have VIPR to pull truckers off the road to search them. How long do you think it will take before they can pull anyone aside anywhere and search them for no reason? After all, unless you check people out, how do you know they aren't engaged in criminal activity?
Our rights are going down the drain.
Does this embarrass anyone else other than this elderly lady? If it doesn't, it should. Our whole government, TSA and the airlines should be embarrassed to no end. It's actions like these that have supported the whole "occupy" movement. Occupy isn't just about Wall Street, it's about a whole culture being misled and abused by companies, banks, government (TSA), and the one percent; and 99% people of this culture are fed up with it. The backlash has started, and I sincerely hope it continues.
I'm sure more information will be forthcoming, and if it isn't, it should. It's time to stop the nonsense. It's okay to be safe and vigilant, but it's not okay to be just plain stupid in the process. The airlines could stop this idiocy if they were suffering from a lack of passengers. Yes, flying is convenient, but as long as this inappropriate behavior is allowed, it will persist. If more airlines go belly up, and TSA is culprit, then the airlines will have room to sue the government for TSA's (government's) mishandling and abuse of the system. Stories like this will prove fertile evidence. When the government loses, and the taxpayers are footing the bill, then guess how people will vote on the next cycle? It's a process, but it does have its bite.
(An attorney once told me that if you really want to harm someone, you hit them where it really hurts--in the pocketbook. Please keep that in mind during this holiday season: shop locally, buy from hometown vendors, try to buy from as much "mom and pop" businesses as possible. We can't do it all this way, but we can make a difference. Until we get the "attention" of the 1%, the rest of us 99% need to really work to make our points. Keep hitting them in the pocketbook--this includes the airlines, TSA, our government, and big business, etc.)
And file exempt on your W-4 for next year.
Read the "Muslim Mafia" book if you want to learn about Muslims.
Superior training and common sense win again!!!!!
Once again, the TSA has shown little compassion for the elderly. Hope their own Grandmothers smack them upside their head.
Another TSA fiasco, what is wrong with these babooze bureaucrats? Time for Pistole and Napolitano to admit they are completely incapable of managing the TSA and to immediately resign. We are tired of their worthless excuses, saying over and over they have fixed the problems only to find out they lied to our faces. From TSA Mexicutioners to TSA agents not checking bags to ripping off luggage contents, the TSA has proven they are not world class. Give us a break!
And you monkeys would be beating up the TSA for not screening everyone adequately if the old lady blew up a plane.
Just another thing to cry foul and blame Obama...
Get a life...
Ever hear of the word MULE?
Ever hear of the word ID!oT
I been through TSA screenings about a dozen times now. They have all been polite and conscientious people to me. But then, I have been that to them as well. This sounds a bit too bizarre to be real. Bleeding, really? My walker can't cut me. What is wrong with hers? Seriously, wouldn't someone bleeding at least have caused a stir just because of the cleaning up that would have to be done.
Perhaps if she had gotten there before 12:20 for a 1 PM flight she might not have had to rush also. We've been told for a while now to get to the airports at least an hour before the flight. They would start boarding by 12:30 or so---and she would have been right up front to board first with her walker and such.
cls4n6 #23,
"Bleeding, really? My walker can't cut me. ..."
Are you 84 or older and required for health reasons, to be taking blood-thinning medication?
You do realize that her age, puts her well within going through WW2, don't you?
Uhhhhh- what does MY age have to do with it? I still had to use a walker (hip surgery, FYI). And I also had to use blood thinners too. (again, hip surgery)..... now that being said---the walkers are NOT sharp- they are very rounded and smooth- for safety reasons obviously. My point is: if she was cut so badly that she was 'bleeding like a pig' it probably wasn't the walker- and TSA would definitely have reacted becasue a lawsuit would be inevitable. The story is just plain unbelievable.
Oh and at her age--- she has been through WWII, Korea, VietNam, Gulf War I and II---so...... what's your point?
(No comma is necessary between 'age' and 'puts'. )
@ 23.2 ... ref my post #6.7. I don't expect you to belive me. Ask you doctor next time you see him, I'm sure he will tell you that is likely for old peoples skin to do that. A person can bleed a lot down their leg and into their shoe.
Please tell us how to bring an effective lawsuit against TSA.
cls4n6 #23.2,
Had the "Greatest Generation in American history" reacted as we have done, we'd be speaking German and/or Japanese, assuming that our bloodline survived.
As for age, body tissues are not as elastic in people of higher ages, than that of healthy and/or younger people.
As for your comment on my use of the "comma", ever hear of a pause effect?
Tex. I do believe that older people can have such tender skin- frangible in fact. However I do NOT believe that she was strip searched and left to bleed so badly that her socks were soaked for the 2 and a half hours until her next flight. The story, as told, just rings false. The other TSA emplyees (some must have elderly family that they can relate to), the ticket agents, the flight attendents, the other passengers, and her seat mate would all have noticed something was seriously amiss. This story seems to be alarmist and designed to appeal to the TSA angst that pervades. I do also believe that some TSA agents are overbearing and unprofessional- but I , however, have not ecountered such behavior. My hip results in my getting a pat down too. Its just part of modern travel now.
Pictures of her leg look awful. But I suspect she did more than bump her leg on a walker to get a full shin bruise like she has, even with blood thinners. It just does not follow logically.
I hope you stay well and enjoy your travels.

Gordon,
The Greatest Generation allusion still makes no sense in this topic arena. She was not fighting Germans or anyone else for that matter at the airport. Thusly, the idea that she was strip searched by TSA agents and injured, humiliated, or otherwise inconvenienced by them is independent of her generational population.
Yes, I do know that older people's skin is often more fragile as they age. It still doen't make sense in this storyline with the details provided therein.
What the heck is a pause effect? The comma placed as it was is incorrect and makes no logical sense of the sentence. I understood what you meant, but nonetheless it was still not correct punctuation.
In any case, I have no real desire to badger you. I was just stating my opinion that this particular story seems illogical and not very believable. It seems to me that the TSA has enough problems without a very slanted, possibly, wholly fabricated version of what happened to an older passenger. I am sure she was unhappy when she missed her flight, but I don't think it was a TSA shakedown. Perhaps she should have arrived at the airport earlier (since she is less mobile than many others) and perhaps her son or someone should have been there to assist her along (at least to the security area).
Are you people for TSA so stupid that you do not realize who was behind 9/11?
Oh Jeffery, please stop with your nonsense.
Please, oh enlightened one, please provide documented proof who was behind 9/11, not some nonsense conspiracy theory.
I've been living under the assumption it was Bin Laden and his band of Merry Mischief Makers for the past 10 yrs. Guess I'm wrong, eh? Soooooooo, enlighten us to The Truth, as it were?
"Behind 9/11"??????
Do you even have a remote idea how much of a moron you are? Almost 3000 american citizens innocently lost their lives that day and you're on some ignorant rampage of conspiracy theories. You truly believe that OUR government murdered almost 3000 Americans. Here's a bit of fact for you. YOU ARE AN AMERICAN. Do you know what that means? It means that we don't have a "Berlin Wall". Our borders are not closed off to you. You are free to leave anytime you so desire. If these ridiculous theories of yours are something that you strongly believe, why in God's name would you want to stay in a country that would do something so horrific? Do us all a favor and relocate to a remote island in the South Pacific and take you conspiracy comrades with you. You won't be missed.
you gotta start some wars to build up value in those defense and oil stocks kiddo. same with short selling the airlines a few days before 9/11...join the club!
@ # 24.1 ... no use expedting an answer, you have already dismissed his stance.
@ # 24.3 ... Please, YOU move to another country. Because of the 911 EXCUSE thousands of American troops and 100's of thousand innocent people in the Mid-East have been murdered. Yes, OUR government will murder USA citizens, look at Ruby Ridge, Waco, Robert Mattews, etc. I hope you use your passport, I want people left in this country who will fight corruption.
Jeffrey NO THEY DON'T!
Oh Tex...from the look of everyone of your posts, I'd have to just come to the conclusion that you are an ignorant backwoods hick. You do realize that you are confusing murder with war and Janet Reno? She was her own entity and I certainly don't condone or agree with those events. The Mid-East is also an unfortunate situation that we are in. I don't like that we're there and I want our soldiers to come home and let them fight their own wars over there. There's nothing that we will ever be able to do about that. They've been fighting for thousands of years over the same thing. But, regardless, war is war...murder is murder. Do you understand the difference?
mixer, thanks for the kind words. I have an opinion of your posts also. With all your metropolitan wisdom you should know that none of the the mid-east killings were/are of legally declared war. It's murder, domestic and foreign.
I have a hard time believing some of these stories...
I work with a guy who just came back from Jamaica. Apparently he has the same name as some one on the "no fly list"...and both his name and he are about as American as they come. Anyway, he did say he was pulled aside, but except for having to wait for a TSA agent to come in and talk to him, he had no problems what so ever.
And personally, while I don't consider myself to be a frequent flier by any stretch, I do fly two or three times a year, and I've never had any problems with either TSA or airline personnel. I agree with berre above...If you are going to believe that we are still worried about terrorists, you better be prepared to deal with the agencies in place to deal with them. My guess is, the folks screaming the loudest about how horrible the TSA is will be the first in line to sue when something goes wrong.
Just what does an American look like ???
No really, tell us all old grand-dragon.... is it white, middle class, average, blonde haired, blue eyed???
Click your heels together, thrust your right hand out, palm down and salute your TSA buddies there fella...with a hearty Sieg Heil...
Another chapter in the Kennedy conspiracy: Stripe searched in a private room by JFK while the TSA watched.
ebawl...It's been said that only people who "look" like terrorists (ie Muslum) should be screened, and ANYBODY who would dare screen a "normal" person must be a government stooge (ie TSA Agent). My point was that this person, according to those standards, should not have had additional screening any more than this "grandmother".
idiots are out again....
Besides a whole lot of wrinkles what did they find?
