What are you most likely to bid on?
Sponsored by JetBlue, the Celebrity Baggage Auction invites travelers to bid on signed luggage from the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Jordin Sparks and erstwhile presidential candidate Donald Trump. All proceeds will benefit DoSomething.org, which helps young people give back to the causes they believe in.
"Celebrity baggage is some of the most intriguing, highly coveted and photographed accessories to ever fly ... across our network," said Icema Gibbs, the airline’s director of corporate social responsibility in announcing the auctions.
So, what will your good deed get you? As of Thursday evening, the most highly coveted item was a Zero Halliburton attaché case signed by The Donald himself. Top bid so far? $620, which, it’s worth noting, also includes two VIP tickets to the Miss USA Pageant in Las Vegas on June 19 and pageant after party.
Less coveted items? That would include Michael C. Lohan’s messenger bag at $102.50, Cindy Adams’ pet tote at $104.48 and Weird Al Yankovic’s fur pouch messenger bag at $136.59.
But wait, there’s more. It turns out that most of the offered items come with extras — a "Boardwalk Empire" prop from Vincent Piazza! A shirt and hair gel from DJ Pauly D! — and all come with two roundtrip tickets anywhere JetBlue flies. That should give the bidding a boost before the first auctions close on May 30.
And if it gets too rich, you can always hold out for the second round (May 31–June 6), when you can take your traveling cues from the likes of Ryan Seacrest, Heather Morris and Taylor Swift.
